Educational Programming

Registration for Youth Company classes for the Fall Semester is OPEN!

Rehearsals are being scheduled based on several factors including the opening of the NYCDOE.

Class will either be entirely online or offered in a hybrid during warmer months where we are able to dance outside socially distanced. These precautions and changes are due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. We will issue new information when and if in person dance rehearsals and classes can resume indoors safely.

We are also asking that you donate however much you can so we are able to keep providing scholarships to students who cannot afford to attend Youth Company events in person or online.

Classes are typically lead by Artistic Director, Jessica Lewis, ft. guest teaching artists and choreographers from Jessica Lewis Arts and our community.

We will be holding a digital dance-making workshop this year for Youth Company Members as well as others (small fee for those not in YDC).

By filling out this form I agree to ensure my child is at rehearsal on time every rehearsal scheduled for the Fall 2020 Semester either online or in-person (as permitted by COVID-19 considerations). I agree that my dancer will be present for any and all performances scheduled with reasonable notice. If my dancer cannot attend a performance, I will inform Jessica Lewis Arts, giving at least 4 weeks prior notice. Fall 2020 semester performance will take place between December 1-10th 2020, or in early January 2020 (over a weekend virtually or in-person if COVID-19 permits). By filling out this form I agree to submit payment to Jessica Lewis Arts for the cost of space for rehearsals if we go in person. Jessica Lewis Arts is an educationally focused dance arts company. All dancers working with Jessica Lewis Arts are also highly qualified arts educators.

Jessica Lewis Arts is available to run educational programs at your school, community center, or organization!

We specialize in modern dance techniques and choreographic workshops for all ages, but have run workshops in all styles of dance and creative work creation.

Jessica Lewis Arts began educational programming in 2014 with after school classes through enrichment programs. We currently run early childhood education classes through adult level classes.

Our main educational group is our pre-professional dance company. Jessica Lewis Arts' Youth Dance Company has expanded to include students of all levels who are interested in exploring all styles of dance dance, their creative voices, and choreography, ages 11-17.

We always love working with new students and continuing students in the Youth Dance Company! Remember- the Youth Dance Company is mainly a choreography workshop where students can create their own work. We also teach the fundamentals of movement technique and dance but there is no required level or dance background to attend. EVERYONE is welcome as long as they have the desire to create.

These rates include an end of semester performance!

All classes will be taught by Jessica Lewis, Artistic and Educational Director (see bio for details).

Please consider donating to help us maintain our high level of educational programming. Your donations go directly to providing space, qualified educators, and a quality dance education to our many young students.
